Welcome!
I'm so glad you found me.
I imagine you’re reading this because you’re struggling with low energy and feeling like there isn’t enough time in the week to do everything you want to.
You’re worried that if you say no to requests or invitations, you’ll fall behind or face rejection, abandonment, or judgement, so instead you’re just saying no to the part of yourself that seriously needs some rest.
Perhaps you’re also wondering how it will ever be possible to get past this when you feel too tired, busy, or overwhelmed to make any changes yourself.
That was me eight years ago, so I totally get it.
I’m here to tell you that life doesn’t have to feel like this. There are solutions that can dramatically improve your mindset, well-being, and overall enjoyment of your day-to-day without compromising your commitments. And what’s more, you can actually structure your day to raise your natural energy levels without spending a fortune on fancy treatments, or eating up all your spare time in the process.
Figuring out how that looks is where I come in…
I help busy, overwhelmed people identify their limiting beliefs, re-write their people-pleaser programming, and raise their baseline energy levels to confidently prioritise themselves and enjoy their lives.
My own battles with burnout
I used to be too exhausted to do the things I wanted to do with my life. In fact, I was programmed to be such a people-pleaser that I didn’t even know what exactly I wanted to do with my life. I was afraid that if I said no to opportunities I’d not be invited to any more in future, like I’d be forgotten or fall behind. So I kept saying yes to requests and invitations and it felt like my to do list just kept getting longer and longer (because it literally did). I gave all my time and energy to my work. Outside of that, I didn’t have any left to do the things I loved, or to discover who I really was, so I regularly defaulted to escaping my problems with Netflix, and comfort-eating salt & vinegar Kettle Chips…
Meanwhile, I wasn’t getting enough sleep, exercise, social time, whole foods, or time for discovering my true needs and desires through things like new hobbies or time in nature. I was living to work, yet also living for the weekend…wtf?! That's a lose-lose situation right there. I wasn’t enjoying the present moment at all, because I wasn’t present at all. Everyone around me was over-working and in a similar boat, so I didn’t realise this lifestyle was unhealthy: it was being normalised by the culture I was submerged in, and I didn’t have the perspective I needed back then to see or understand that.
As a sensitive person, my tolerance for that go-go-go culture is lower than those who are less sensitive. So I developed chronic illnesses like anxiety, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, neck pain, and insomnia, to name a few. Despite superficially giving all my energy to my work, my work was also suffering, or just not happening. I was scraping through on pure adrenaline, barely functioning, which meant as soon as any major life event came up, I was pushed into overwhelm, freeze, or total burnout.
So when mum passed away in the midst of all this, I got so sick that I had to take leave from my PhD to do absolutely nothing but rest for six months (and frankly, could have benefited from another six…) This was the worst burnout of my life (coupled with grief)…until I got long-COVID three years later and went through another - even longer - period of rest and recovery from something that can only be described as the most intense burnout imaginable. I’ve also experienced emotional burnout from my childhood trauma being triggered, and physical burnout from my gut health being so poor from stress.
I tried everything to get better. Ask any one of my friends and they’ll tell you I’m one of the healthiest people they know. I take such good care of myself and have done since embarking on my healing journey eight years ago. But nothing would stick. It was like everything I threw my time, energy, and money at would serve as a band-aid but not a lasting solution to my low energy or chronic stress. Until finally I came across the dream combination of approaches and modalities that truly pulled me out of the rut, healed me, and helped me to lay lasting foundations of health that keep me resilient in the face of stress and burnout nowadays.
It's true that no one, including a burnout coach, is completely immune to burnout. Life events sometimes hit us super hard and before we know it, we’re drained and need to take rest to recover. But nowadays when life’s blows come at me, I recognise the early warning signs of stress and overwhelm and I know exactly what to do to ensure I don’t go into full burnout again. So my relationship with stress and burnout has changed. Now I’m the one in control. I recognise the signs as reminders from my body to slow down. I’m grateful to my body for those reminders. It’s all too easy to get caught up in life and stuck in our heads! Thank goodness our bodies are keeping the score…
These days I have the energy and make the time to travel when I want to, dance every weekend with my beautiful community, spend hours outside with my dog every day, and build the career of my dreams. I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been. I know that life will keep presenting me with new challenges, but I trust that I’ll be able to work through those challenges and see them as the opportunities for growth that they truly are. I have the tools and resources I need to beat burnout from now on. And I’d really love to share those with you so that you can live your best life too.
Why work with me
I’m a Certified Coach Practitioner with the Certified Coaches Federation. I’ve been coaching people with a tendency to over-work and people-please since 2022. My clients appreciate my empathetic and insightful approach to coaching. They achieve their goals at a pace that empowers them, without draining their already-depleted energy or interrupting their busy schedules. They walk away from our work together with more routine and structure, a better sense of what they want in life, and particularly with more confidence to go for it and to say no to the things that were holding them back from going for it before.
But I think what really makes me great at my job is that I’ve experienced multiple types of burnout for multiple different reasons. I’ve recovered from all of them in a variety of ways, with different arrays of techniques. What that means is that I’ve developed a comprehensive toolkit for all kinds of burnout prevention and recovery over the past eight years. My own journey with burnout has turned me into a burnout expert! And I want to share my expertise with you, and anyone else who feels stuck in a rut of stress, exhaustion, or overwhelm. Because, take it from me, it’s bloody hard to pull yourself out of that rut without the appropriate support network.
One of my major frustrations on my healing journey has also turned into one of my strongest drivers for doing this work: I wasted so much of my limited time, energy, and money on the wrong healing modalities over the years. It was so disheartening! The rabbit holes! The financial stress! The hopelessness… I really want to prevent that from happening to others because it adds so much unnecessary stress to an already incredibly burdensome situation.
There’s really no silver bullet solution when it comes to stress and overwhelm. It’s important to look holistically at all areas of your life to celebrate and lean on your strongholds as well as analysing and fortifying the areas that need more attention, nurturing, and structure. That’s why my coaching approach merges all the most helpful tactics I’ve tried and tested into comprehensive programs tailored specifically to each client’s needs. I can’t wait to share it with you so that you can free yourself from the limitations of chronic stress and overwhelm as well. It took me years of trial and error to devise this unique approach. I aim to save you that time and energy by providing you with everything you need, built into one coaching program.
If my story resonates with you, it’s likely you’ll benefit from the same approaches that I did.
More about me
My pronouns are she/they and I’m a queer, neurodivergent woman in my late-30s.
I’m a highly sensitive empath and my greatest strength is effective communication.
I’m a Gemini Sun, Libra Moon, and Cancer Rising.
I’m originally from London in the UK but when I moved to BC in 2013, I knew pretty soon after that I’d found my real home.
I love to be in nature, especially by a river or the sea. I’ve got all of that on my doorstep here in Vancouver!
When I can’t get outside with my dog, I’m indoors prolifically puzzling, playing piano, or crocheting something above my experience level…I love a challenge.
Belly laughing with dear friends is among my favourite ways to recharge.
I’m growth-oriented and always striving to discover more about people, the world, and myself.
Life is like a giant puzzle and I’m here enjoying solving it, every step of the way.
What now?
I know how hard it can be to make time for yourself when you truly believe that time isn’t going to fix anything anyway.
The thing is, when recovering from burnout, it’s really about chipping away little by little, as opposed to fixing everything with one grand gesture all at once.
It’s important not to push yourself too hard to recover quickly. In my opinion, that’s the primary reason so many of us remain stuck in burnout. We don’t understand or adjust to our new, lower energy baseline.
So with that in mind, I’ve made a free guide called Instant Calm, which gives you 15 ideas for soothing your stress in 1–5 minutes. You can download it here.
If you can carve out five minutes a day to complete just one technique from this guide, then you’re off to a solid start! I suggest starting with one and sticking with it until it feels habitual, before adding more.
If you know that you just don’t have the self-motivation right now to get started on your own and you’re ready to dive into working together, you can book a free 20-minute Discovery Call with me here instead and we'll decide on the right program for you.
If you’re interested in learning more about my program but not quite ready to book a discovery call yet, you can read more about it here. (Link coming soon!)
I’m here for you. I look forward to connecting when you’re ready.
